Climbers
NPTC qualified tree climbers, trained in aerial rescue, who take trees apart in sections on ropes and rigging.
Every job is done by a qualified team with professional kit, matched to the job: from a tight back garden to a business park, a woodland ride or a roadside verge.

Clearcut works in teams, never alone: a qualified climber or operator, ground crew and, where the job needs it, a banksman to manage traffic and the public. Our team holds NPTC certificates for chainsaws, felling, climbing and aerial rescue, City & Guilds qualifications and Lantra training for machinery and land-based work. Our kit includes woodchippers, a tipper truck, pickups and vans, a tracked stump grinder, and, for larger work, fast agricultural tractors with trailers and flails, tracked spider platforms and lorry-mounted platforms.

The other half of every climb: managing the lowering lines, keeping the drop zone clear, feeding the chipper and leaving the site clean.
Lantra trained for the chippers, the stump grinder, tractors and flails, and the access platforms.
Signs, cones and barriers out before work starts, and a banksman to stop traffic and the public where the job is next to a road or path.
Tap a number to see what each piece of kit does. Everything is checked before every climb and inspected on a schedule.
A climbing helmet with a chin strap, made for work at height, so it stays on if the climber swings or falls.
A mesh visor keeps chips and sawdust out of the eyes, and ear defenders protect hearing from the saw.
Bright, so the ground crew and anyone passing can see the climber at all times.
A sit harness built for tree work, with a central bridge so the climber can move round the stem and work hands-free.
The main rope, from an anchor high in the tree, with a friction hitch or mechanical device so the climber can move up and down under control. A second, independent anchor is used whenever a saw is running.
An adjustable strap round the stem that holds the climber in position and keeps both hands free for the saw.
A small, light saw made for use in the tree, carried on a strop so it can't fall. Only qualified climbers use one, and never from a ladder.
Gloves for grip and protection from the bark, the rope and the saw.
Protective trousers with layers of long fibres that clog the chain and stop it in a fraction of a second.
Chainsaw-protective boots with grip on the bark and support for standing on spikes or branches.
Carried on the harness, with a whistle, and a second climber trained in aerial rescue on the ground on every climbing job.
Matched to the job: narrow enough for garden gates, big enough for estates.
Turns branches into woodchip on site, so the waste leaves in one trip and gets recycled.
Takes the woodchip and timber away, with its beacons going whenever it works next to a road.
Our pickups carry the signs, cones and kit, with amber beacons flashing whenever they're at the roadside.
For hedge cutting, pruning and quote visits, carrying the hand tools and climbing kit.
Narrow enough for most garden gates, grinding stumps out below the surface.
Fast agricultural tractors for timber extraction, flailing hedges and verges, and moving kit across big sites.
A compact tractor with a front loader for moving timber, brash and kit around sites, estates and our yard, small enough for tight access and on turf tyres to protect the ground.
Tracked access platforms that fit through gateways and set up on soft ground, for safe work at height where a climb isn't the right answer.
Driven platforms for roadside and commercial work, reaching high crowns from the road with the area signed and coned.
Ropes, harnesses and rigging, inspected and recorded, with a second climber trained in aerial rescue on every climbing job.
Sounding mallets, probes and binoculars for inspections, and photos and notes for every written report.
The standards behind every job.
