Clearcut covers the whole New Forest from our base in Ferndown, just across the county border. Inside the National Park, which includes Lyndhurst, Brockenhurst and Burley, tree consents are handled by the New Forest National Park Authority. Outside it, in towns like Ringwood, Lymington, New Milton, Totton and Hythe, it is New Forest District Council. Much of the forest is a Site of Special Scientific Interest, and many trees are protected; we check every tree and make the application for you.
The forest's trees are its character, and the rules protecting them are strict for good reason.
Inside the National Park, villages such as Lyndhurst, Brockenhurst, Burley, Beaulieu and Minstead have large conservation areas, so trees need six weeks' notice before work, and many carry TPOs. We know which authority covers each address and make the notice or application.
Ancient oaks and beeches are common in gardens on the forest edge. Old trees like these are valuable for wildlife, so we favour sensitive reductions and deadwood removal over removal where a tree can safely be kept, and we check for bats and nesting birds first.
Properties next to the open forest have commoners' animals, cyclists and walkers on the lanes. We set up work areas with care and leave the verges clear.
