Timber extraction in short
Timber extraction is moving felled trees and logs from where they were cut to a stacking point or a road where they can be collected. Clearcut extracts timber with a forestry tractor, crane grab and timber trailer, for woodland owners, estates, farms and developers across Dorset and Hampshire. We can fell the trees too, or extract timber after someone else's felling.

How we extract timber
Moving heavy timber safely is about planning the route as much as the lifting.
We plan extraction routes on a site visit, keeping off the wettest ground, away from trees being kept, and clear of footpaths and services. On soft ground we time the work for drier weather where we can.
The crane grab loads logs onto the timber trailer without dragging them along the ground, which protects the soil and the woodland floor. The timber is taken to a stacking area or a roadside for collection, or removed from site.
Smaller amounts of timber after tree work on a garden or estate are moved with our compact tractor loader.
