Hedge removal in short
Hedge removal means cutting a hedge down to the ground and taking out the stumps and main roots, so the ground can be used for a fence, a wall, a new hedge, a border or lawn. We cut and chip the hedge, grind or dig out the stumps, and take all the waste away. Countryside hedgerows can need council permission to remove; garden hedges don't.

How we remove a hedge
The hedge is the easy part. The stumps and roots are what make the ground usable again.
We cut the hedge down in sections, chipping as we go, until only the stumps are left. Then the stumps are ground below the surface with our tracked grinder, or dug out with a mini digger where a fence line, wall footing or new planting needs the roots gone.
The ground is raked level and the waste taken away. If you are putting in a new hedge or fence, we leave the line ready for it.
Before any work in spring or summer, we check for nesting birds. Hedges are a favourite nesting site, so removal is best planned for autumn and winter.
